A bit about me:
Im ever evolving, flowing and living like a wave in the universe…

I’m Kasso, a visual artist crafting immersive narratives for museums and gallery spaces. My art thrives in many settings and in art and cultural institutions alike. Rooted in emotional storytelling, I blend cultural imagery with contemporary ideas, a surreal vision of past, future, and lying in the space between them, prioritizing exhibits that challenge perception and foster dialogue. Sold through galleries and through my website, my one of a kind pieces extend my ethos, yet my focus remains on the permanence of bearing witness to life. In spaces where art transcends tangible value. For me, art isn’t a commodity, it’s a bridge to a collective voice.
As a California Indigenous artist, poet, and Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians member. My work fuses Miwok and Nisenan symbols and cultural tidbits, with surrealism’s vibrant pulse, merging visceral realism and dreamlike abstraction. Inspired by uncle Harry Fonseca’s storytelling and Frida Kahlo’s defiant intimacy, reflecting on trauma, healing, and Indigenous bonds.
Raised between California’s coast and Central Valley, into a woman with a wandering spirit.
My practice is rooted in freedom of flights of fancy, and community–bearing witness to shadow, and pain, I alchemize growth and transforming obstacles into power and creativity through sacred geometry, fluid identity, a little magic… and the body’s unyielding language. My paintings and poetry reclaim fragmented histories, honor ancestral motifs, and amplify personal sovereignty and survivance: Moving into power of self, while reflecting on the world we breathe in.. sing in… grow our wings in… to playfully tug on the radiant, unbroken thread which becomes the bridge that reclaims us… and the bonfire that remakes us… AFTER the burn. All the things, and still dance in the winds, and the waters. I’ll see you in that place and time.
